What is Skin Resurfacing?

As we age, wrinkles become more evident. Everybody knows that, but there are several factors that can speed up this wrinkling process. The largest cause of wrinkling is exposure to UV radiation from the sun. Other factors are air pollution or cigarette smoking. These factors usually begin to be noticeable around age 20 and worsen as we age. But what’s going on underneath the surface of the skin? Collagen is being damaged. When collagen is damaged the skin begins to look thinner and the visible signs of aging start to appear: facial lines, texture changes, and wrinkles.

The Skin Resurfacing Laser Peel process:

This process is actually doing what it says, peeling the skin. While this may sound a touch frightening, it is in fact completely safe. Dr. Marcus uses state of the art technology, equipped with patented Extended Ablation Technology. The treatment itself involves removing the damaged upper layers of the epidermis in a safe, controlled method. This method of peeling away the outermost layer reveals the fresher underlying layers, resulting in reduced facial wrinkles and scars.
